environmental policy

Hammet House was built in 1795 at a time when environmental impact & carbon footprints were not heard of.  We are doing our utmost to run the house in the most efficient & environmentally friendly way possible. We don’t have solar panels or a ground source heat pump yet, but we do have three foot thick original stone walls that keep the heat in in winter & the house cool in summer.  We are adding extra insulation to the roof to help even further.

We segregate & recycle all our waste, & we limit food miles as far as possible, which is not too difficult as we are surrounded by a wealth of fabulous food producers.

We adhere to a paperless office policy as far as possible.
